Description: This hands-on full day workshop dives into the NAAEE's Guidelines for Excellence: Professional Development of Environmental Educators on which the core competencies for this certification program are based. Focusing on the preparation and continuing education of environmental educators, this day is packed with interactive sessions that allow you to explore the Guidelines with other professionals. Candidates may attend the Professional Development workshop any time after beginning Criteria 1 of certification. We strongly encourage candidates to complete Criteria 1 before attending this workshop. This workshop is a prerequisite to the Methods for Teaching Environmental Education workshop. Future offerings: September 12 AND 15, 4:00 - 6:00 pm Virtual | Description: This two day workshop focuses on the skills required to lead high-quality EE programming. Content includes: group management, inclusive learning environments, age-appropriate concepts, inquiry-based lesson planning, program correlation to the Virginia Standards of Learning and more. Next offering: June 17 virtual and June 24 in-person, 2023 Charlottesville, VA Fee: $135 Current registration availability: Not yet open* | Description: This online module focuses on Earth’s physical and living systems, human systems, and the intersection of our environment and society as well as the natural and cultural histories of Virginia and our bioregion. While it is impossible to cover all possible aspects of environmental literacy that an environmental educator may be required to know and understand, it is important that candidates understand some foundational concepts.
